Corporate strategy describes the ways in which a company strives to achieve value creation, develop an advantage over its competitors and increase market share. Space Exploration Technologies Corp (Space X) has boldly gone where no other aerospace startup had ever been before. It achieved 18 successful launch–twice the number of the previous year. This was on behalf companies in five different countries, NASA and the U.S. National Reconnaissance Office.

SpaceX now holds over 60% of all commercial launch contract worldwide. SpaceX’s reusable rocket system has made it a leader in aeronautics and has changed the market for space travel. It has sent eight rockets back to the sky and landed them on ocean-based drones platforms. Elon, 46, is the founder and CEO of Tesla. He has even made progress in his plans to colonize Mars.

SpaceX uses these new data for calculating structural margins, which in turn influences parachute configuration. These results are unique and allow for a more accurate estimation of reliability when it comes to the configuration of the flight parachute. These data confirmed SpaceX’s latest successful test. It simulated a low-altitude pad abort in which the vehicle tumbles before its parachute is deployed.

Space X’s competitive advantage is that it has a backward-integration program, and they manufacture their own parts. This allows them to keep costs down and be competitive on the marketplace. A reusable, multi-stage rocket increases the efficiency of operations. A rocket can be used repeatedly, reducing the cost of launch. Arianespace estimates that a partially-reusable rocket will need to be launched 35-40 times a year in order to reap its benefits. Hawthorne-based Blue Origin, which has similar goals of disrupting space travel, is a stiff competitor to the company.

SpaceX is a company that has a reputation for high prices. As stated on the website of SpaceX, a Falcon 9 launches costs around $57,000,000. That’s less than $2,500 each pound. It’s a much lower price than the other U.S.-based launch companies, and even China’s Long March rocket manufacturer says they can’t match SpaceX. Falcon Heavy, SpaceX’s rocket by 2014, was aimed at lowering the price to $1,000 per kilogram.
