In summary

Multiple researches have shown the connection between what an individual sees and how they act. This research analyzed the effect of advertisements and promotional activities on youth. The questionnaires were used to conduct this research. This questionnaire was completed by 45 participants. The questionnaire was distributed at the university to the chosen audience.

There are two parts to the questionnaire. These are the two segments that comprise the questionnaire. Research revealed that youth are greatly influenced by advertisements and other promotional activities. Introduction: Youth are often the custodians and guardians of the future in any given society. The youth are increasingly materialistic and place value on things that aren’t important in the last century. Advertising is a communication tool that allows users to interact with a product/service. Advertisements can be messages that are sent for free and have the purpose of informing or influencing people. Advertisements provide information to consumers about the product and the value attached to it. Advertising is often considered to be a benefit, but the current practice of advertising can lead to negative effects and even life-altering outcomes. These are the factors that shape the behavior patterns of youth. Adverts have an effect on everyone.

Advertising has been used to promote products and take them to new markets for many centuries. The past has seen the importance of promotions and advertisements in promoting products. Advertising used to be handwritten or printed in pamphlets. Technology and people have evolved over the years. Common man’s daily life is becoming extremely hectic. The only way he can vent his stress is through television. Businesses today are aware of this and have developed promotions to match. Advertising has evolved from a simple print to become much more. Advertisements impact the behavior and reactions of people, as well as altering their buying habits.

Literature ReviewIt seems that it is easy to influence the youth. Advertisements of today make this apparent. Today’s advertisements target individuals who are pursuing their ‘dreams. Advertisements are everywhere. The Apple logo on a phone’s back is an advertisement for the product. It also teaches the consumer how to use it. A logo on a car is another example. The logo is not what people pay for, but it is advertisement for the company which made it. In this way, the person who owns the car is unknowingly promoting that brand. That is what youth are most affected by. A research found that two strangers can get along well if their cars are from the same manufacturer. This is true for phones as well as any other product. The value of all products has been attached to advertisements and promotions. Consumer behavior is so unified that everyone feels like they are part a larger family. It’s like an iPhone user seeing another and an Audi owner seeing someone else get out of one.

Today’s youth love to watch television and use their smartphones as a way of relaxing. In the past, advertisements were targeted at local populations and have had success in changing the buying habits of locals. The impact of advertisements has grown exponentially since the advent globalization. They may introduce a new culture to an area, which could be useful or not. They help people see the world from the perspective of others. Today’s advertisements emphasize the benefits of the product. While this may be true for certain products, there are also downsides to these need-focused adverts. These advertisements aim at exploiting the wishes of people by showing them desirable things, which may include but are not limited to girlfriends/boyfriends, manors, luxurious lifestyle, glamour, spotlight, adrenaline rush and then the advertisements of the modern day try and craft a link between the product being offered and their wishes and dreams. The desire to achieve their goals and the fulfillment of those wishes is a common theme among youth.

This can be illustrated by the fact that anyone who owns an SUV or protocol culture is considered influential. Youth see this as advertisement of being in a position where they are able to control their destiny. Commercials for body-sprays or soft drinks show extravagant lifestyles. It also shows people who derive utility by these kinds of products. This is why the youth unknowingly follow the advertised lifestyles and assume it to be the norm.

Advertisements can also have a negative effect on the lives of people, just like every other product or service. When assessing their impact, there are many things to take into account. Advertising is changing to be more visual. This is what the youth are taught to believe. In an advertisement, a bad act is shown as being positive. People start to accept it as normal, or it is something they are allowed to do. The survey was conducted at a university. Two parts were included in the questionnaire. Both the quantitative and qualitative parts of the questionnaire were required. Nine questions were asked in the questionnaire to determine the opinions and feelings of participants about advertisements and their impact. The scale was used to select the answers.

The “Strongly disagree”, as well as “Strongly accepted” are the lowest and highest rungs of this scale. The scale was used for quantitative questions. 1 is the lowest level and 5 the highest.

This summarizes the findings of the questionnaire. A questionnaire result led to the first hypothesis: that youth were more affected by advertisements and promotions than they were by word of mouth from family members.

Conclusion. It is a known fact that youth are the most important part of any society. Therefore, it is crucial that advertising and promotions be monitored and controlled. Research shows that youth have adopted western culture as a way of life and are becoming less knowledgeable about their culture. There must be controls in place to ensure that our nation and society are still identifiable.
